the sixth of june

on the sixth day of the month of june in the year one thousand nine hundred eighty five, i was brought into this world. wish me a happy birthday :)

i get to see maria taylor tonight, wait on a bunch of losers going to see kanye west on sunday(make lots of money), and i get to see frog eyes on monday. this is the raddest birthday weekend ever.

Yeasayer & MGMT

Great Show. Co-Headliners. Alternating headliner spots on the tour. If this tour comes through your town, i highly recommend going.

MGMT play a great show that is heavy on the synths, and really great to dance to. I saw them open for Of Montreal a couple months back, and loved them then. It was nice to see them in a much more intimate venue, with more time on the stage. The played a really tight set, and kicked it off with this great new 10 minute unreleased track. When i spoke to the frontman last time i saw them he said they were gearing up to release a single with this as a b-side. it isn't out yet, so i don't know when we will get it. But if this is any indication of their future sound, i am ready for them to hit the studio and give me some more great music. They hit up letterman a couple weeks ago, and i was pretty impressed with there performance on the show. The one think i want to know is why they left Kids out of their set-list, Easily one of my favorite tracks on Oracular Spectacular and when they said last song, and it wasn't Kids a bunch of spectators were a bit disappointed.

And then we have Yeasayer, and what can i say, i wasn't too captivated by their album All Hour Cymbals but i must say, i can see what all of the buzz is about this band. They were named one of the Seven bands from SXSW that will matter and i agree 100%. When i found out they were closing the show, well i was a bit happy, because i figured i could get out of there a little early and beat the traffic. well, once their set started, i was captivated and didn't leave early like i planned on. a great show with some rad sounds coming from the drum machine and synths.

If you have the opportunity to see this show, take it. They are playing smaller venues, so tickets are relatively cheap. Take this opportunity and have a great night witnessing what i think are two bands that will be capturing audiences for years to come.

So, I was sitting here, trying to write reviews for my tops of '07 list. And I just want to get it out there. I don't want to take anymore time, I just want to let it out. Maybe I will update this journal entry a million times and add some reviews as I write them up. Maybe I will just post the list and be done with it. This list is ranked, and i chose 22, because well, all of these albums are worthy of mentioning from me. No more, no less. Exactly that many.

getting better?

after 2 months of suck, i finally got to the position i wanted in work. which means one thing. MORE MONEY. more hours, and more stress, but i can deal with that.

we will see how long i can hang, how long i have to take the shaft on the crap jobcode (hopefully monday is the last time). my managers are idiots, and since i have 3 jobcodes, (the only FOH hourly employee who does), it means i have 2 different managers making my schedule, and for some reason, they cant follow directions and give me the schedule i wrote out, or at least give me one full day off.

in 2 months, i have worked 55 days. with some simple math, it means i have had 4 days completely off. an average of one day off every other week which is fucking bullshit.

the sad thing is that i still have no money. and i have to find a way to renew my insurance policy by the 24th. i got a letter from the DMV that i need to go to TSS, and i may or may not have a warrant out for my arrest (again). let me just pray i can afford to pay the state the money to remove the warrant from my name before i get pulled over for some stupid bullshit again.

life sucks, but now i have the opportunity to make more money.

i wonder when my next day off will be.

to answer the rhetorical question, maybe.
